Why it caught our attention
A grown mycelium structure has moved beyond a material sample into a regulated, recognisable end product.
What is reported
Loop says the coffin is grown in Delft from local mushrooms and upcycled hemp fibres, and lists certification for natural and traditional burial and cremation.
Evidence limit
The 45-day biodegradation timeframe and wider environmental claims are manufacturer-reported. We have not reviewed the underlying certification files or a comparative life-cycle assessment.

The company is inviting enquiries for pilot projects rather than presenting the board as a fully established mass-market product.
Why it caught our attention
It gives agricultural straw a proposed route into a specified building product, where test data, installation practice and certification matter as much as the feedstock story.
What is reported
Agreka reports thermal conductivity of 0.046 W/mK, density of 365 kg/m³ and acoustic transmission loss of 58.8 dB at 500 Hz.
Evidence limit
These values and the company’s binder, fire, indoor-air and carbon statements are manufacturer-reported. British Board of Agrément and Cradle to Cradle certification are described as underway, not complete.

Bottega Veneta lists a commercial range of woven mycelium wallets, card cases and related small accessories in selected markets.
Why it caught our attention
It shows a pilot-scale biomaterial entering a global luxury product range through an established manufacturing language: the woven Intrecciato form.
What is reported
Bottega Veneta describes the products as made with Ephea Uma, a mycelium-based material created through a biofabrication process. Ephea says its mats are made from pure mycelium and produced at pilot level.
Evidence limit
The complete composition and comparative performance of each finished accessory are not presented on the cited pages. We found no public product-level life-cycle assessment.
